The Epson 1400 is the predecessor of the 1290. Like the 1290 the Epson 1400 is a 6 channel dye based printer ideal for high end photographic reproduction. The Lyson ink for the 1400 is an advanced formulation offering an extended colour gamut and excellent longevity properties. In addition to the colour ink set, Lyson also offer a Dedicated Monochrome Ink Set which produces truly amazing results
Bulk Ink System - 1400
The Lyson Bulk Ink System transforms this lower end printer into an amazing digital output device for the creation of outstanding prints. The monochrome inks replace all the colour channels with a density of black, giving the photographer total control without any risk of colour contamination. The fotonic XG inkset gives vibrant rich colour images. No other bulk system and ink set combination can rival the print quality of the new Lyson dedicated monochrome set for the Epson 1400.

Trying to create anything closely resembling an acceptable black and white print with a colour dye set is next to impossible. By replacing all the colour ink channels on the 1400 with different densities of grey the chance of any colour cast is totally removed, whilst at the same time the depth of black and the retained detail is nothing short of revolutionary.
