What are Small Gamut Inks
Lyson Small Gamut inks offer the user the benefit of being able to produce true archival monochrome prints using a wide range of tonal shades from just one ink set.

These inks can be used in most Canon and Epson printers, and we have found that the best results are obtained when used with Lyson paper, the reason for this is that most out of the box type inks are dye based therefore most of the run of the mill photo paper is produced to support dye based printing inks, where as Lyson inks are pigment based and work much better when printed on media that is designed to support pigment ink based printing.

This ink set from Lyson that is designed for the reproduction of black and white images will revolutionize the quality and flexibility of digital processes for making fine art black and white inkjet prints. Lysonic SG combines the flexibility of full-gamut ink sets designed for colour printing, with the uniform greyscale reproduction throughout the tonal scale afforded by non-hue-controllable "zero-gamut" monochrome ink sets (which combine black with a series of Grays, as do quadtone, tritone and duotone ink sets)
Quad Black vs. Small Gamut

Because Quad Black ink uses either six or four intensities of the same black ink, these inks produce the best image in terms of tonal graduation and detail, But Lyson Small Gamut has the advantage for the user in that the exact tone of the print can be chosen. By using basic adjustments in the image creation software like Photoshop, a complete range of tones can be created from sepia through neutral to blue blacks. Even red or green blacks tints can be achieved, all this is possible without using color ink sets which pollute the image with tonal defects. It is also possible to tone different sections of a print to create amazing effects.
Longevity of Lyson Inks
Lyson Inks have been tested for longevity and have been proved to last over 70 years without fading or losing tone.

Reliability
Thorough testing of all Lyson Inks cartridges is carried out using a stringent procedures as the machine manufacturer. These tests include a 10,000 page full coverage print run without nozzle failure.

Before you use Lyson Small Gamut Inks
Before you install Lyson Small Gamut inks into your printer, it is highly recommended that you first use Lyson Cleaning Cartridges, this will not only ensure that your printer heads are clean but will flush your system ensuring that no ink is left from your previous cartridge which could cause cross contamination.
